Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. – Albert Einstein
Republican and Democratic voters, you would do well to reconsider your behavior because, according to Einstein, you are a lunatic.
We all know these people. They’re the Republicans who religiously watch Fox News and listen to Rush Limbaugh, question Obama’s citizenship, and truly believe America is an exceptional country (or will be once we get a Republican back in the White House). These Republicans reliably vote for their party’s candidates because all we need to do is put Republican politicians in charge and everything will be right in America.
But these people aren’t just straight-ticket Republicans, they are also the Republicans’ sworn enemy – the dyed deep-blue Democrats. These people get their news from MSNBC and NPR (National Propaganda Radio), assume the average American is an illiterate red-neck, and think this country is ruining the world (or will be if a Republican reoccupies the White House). When these Democrats get a ballot, they peruse it for the names with a “D” beside them and vote for them, because if Democratic politicians don’t have control then America will be the embarrassment of the planet.
These people aren’t mean-spirited, they truly believe that what they are doing is for the good of as all. And when they call you an idiot for disagreeing with them it’s because … well … because you’re an idiot.
But who are the real idiots?
Both groups are concerned with a number of issues that everyone thinks are important.
The Republicans want to see the size of government reduced. They want the national debt reigned in. They want a strong national defense. And for the most part they want the government to leave them alone so they can live their lives in peace.
The Democrats want the US to end war. They want to help the poor and downtrodden. And they want everyone to have equal rights.
And they both want America to have a thriving economy that allows anyone who is willing to work to get ahead, while ending the crony capitalism of the politically well connected.
I would vote for most, or even all, of that – wouldn’t you? Thus, Republican and Democratic politicians promise to deliver the goods to their dependable voters as long as they continue to vote for them. (But don’t vote for those crazy Libertarians, delusional Greens, or any other third party because you’re just wasting your vote.)
So the Republican sycophants and Democratic sheeple trudge to the polls and check off the names they’ve been told to select. And then they wait for the promises to be fulfilled … and they wait … and they wait … and they wait …
Occasionally one of these voters becomes lucid and questions the politicians.
“Mr. Republican Senator, why haven’t you cut the deficit? Why haven’t you gotten rid of these regulations that are killing business? Why haven’t you repealed Obamacare? Why is the NSA still un-Constitutionally spying on Americans? Why aren’t you doing anything you promised us you would do?”
“Mr. Democratic President, why are so many people still unemployed? Why did my health insurance become unaffordable? Why are we still fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and starting wars in Libya and Syria? Why are blacks targeted by police and imprisoned more often than whites for committing the same crimes? Why aren’t you doing anything you promised us you would do?”
But it doesn’t matter whether it’s the Republican or Democratic politician responding because the answer is always the same: “The other side has been blocking our efforts, therefore we need more power. You must return to the voting booth this November and vote for more of us. Then we will do what we promised.”
So the Republican/Democratic voter puts his head back in the sand and dutifully does what has been commanded. And nothing changes.
While George W. Bush was President the Republicans had control of the White House and both houses of Congress for four years. The results were wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, a doubling of the national debt, a massive expansion of Medicare putting the program in the red, the creation of an un-Constitutional police state that would have made Stalin proud, and the worst recession in 35 years.
For the first two years that Barrack Obama was President the Democrats had a stranglehold on the White House and Congress. The results were trillion dollar deficits and another doubling of the national debt, a health insurance ponzi scheme that is going bankrupt as it forces premiums through the roof, no end to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, expansion of American terror bombings into Syria, Libya, and Yemen, and the slowest economic recovery since the 19th century.
In fact, for the last 27 years, the Republicrats have kept virtually none of the promises they’ve made to the voters. Instead they have consistently grown the size of government, spent beyond their means, started one war after another, and passed laws to take away your rights and freedom while expanding the government’s power.
Now the Republicrats have offered up two Presidential candidates who are so awful that the parties barely even bother to keep telling you the same lies. Instead the campaigns are focusing on each other’s candidate:
- – Vote for Trump because we need to keep lying, corrupt, crooked Hillary out of the White House!
- – Vote for Hillary because we need to keep bigoted, loud-mouthed, mentally unstable Trump out of the White House!
In other words – don’t vote for my candidate because my candidate will do a great job (because in reality he/she really sucks). Vote for my candidate because the other side’s candidate is the second coming of Satan!
Republicans and Democrats, your parties think they own you. You are their slaves. You must do their bidding … or else!
Or else what? They’ll keep screwing you the same way they’ve been screwing you? Stop following orders!
Escape the Republicrat plantation! You have other options. Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson will be on the ballot in every state (my preferred choice) and Green Party candidate Jill Stein will be on the ballot in most. Both the Libertarians and the Greens are running candidates for other federal, state, and local offices. And several smaller parties are also fielding candidates along with myriad independents. Educate yourself about them, you might like what you find.
You do have a choice. You can seek out candidates who believe as you do and tell the Republicrat duopoly to shove it.
Or you can keep doing what you’ve been doing hoping that things will change even though you know they won’t.
But if you do that, it means you are truly insane.
