Congressman Wants to Build Moat Around White House

At a time where the country is facing various economic problems, politicians continue to spend money on wasteful projects.

Wednesday, at a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Steve Cohen seriously suggested building a moat around the White House, similar to the moats that were constructed to protect castles in the middle ages.

The suggestion comes after a number of people have scaled the White House fence and dashed onto the lawn, only to be taken down and arrested by secret service officers.

Cohen argued during the hearing that a moat about six-feet wide would be “effective” and “attractive.”

Oddly enough, his suggestion was taken seriously by the other bureaucrats, who agreed that it might be “a good idea.”

Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy said that the agency was already considering the possibility of building a higher fence to keep people from entering the White House lawn, so a moat may not be out of the question.

The discussion was recorded and broadcast on CSPAN. Watch in the video below as the politicians speak casually about building a moat around the White House.
