An Election Op-ED by a self professed Punk Rock Libertarian.
I don’t care much for government at all really. Word. I tolerate it as much as the next dude. Although, i love to admit that the colorful cast of characters running amuck this election cycle have made it pretty entertaining.
Every election seems to be getting worse and worse. .. And Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse… Enter the 2016 Shitstorm! 2016 so far, has proven to be the utmost culmination of two party politics at it’s most polarizing. So I ask… What better time to spark ideas of ‘leave me the fuck alone’ then right now? Really… Who the fuck wants to be ruled by these people?
I’m of the opinion that the times seem to make the men. When I think back to the American revolution of 1776, I get to thinking about some of the cool things that the founders said. For every cool thing they said, they were no doubt driven to such statements by tyrants being tyrants. And in 2016 we too have plenty of tyrants.
We also have party corruption on both sides that is far exceeding any other time in recent years. Hillary and the DNC are fucking over Bernie with the super delegates. Proving only further that the DNC doesn’t really give a shit about actual democracy. There’s talk about the GOP brokering the convention. The GOP changing the rules that they only first put in place to exclude Ron Paul and now reversing them to take down The Donald. The establishments of both parties are blatantly demonstrating their lack of respect for the will of their fed up participants.
So many people can’t stand the front runners of the duopoly parties. If you’re a libertarian who holds the opinion that voting and elections are a way to spark and convey dissent… 2016 is your wet dream.
I hold the opinion that most people are libertarian, they just don’t know it yet. In the midst of the ridiculous political shenanigans of 2016, more will only realize how libertarian they are. Republicans and Democrats want to tell you how to live. When it’s comes to Hillary and Trump, so many people just want to be left alone. The problem is the solution.
Right now the Libertarian Party is in the midst of picking their candidate. Choosing the one who is best fit to further the movement and advance the cause of liberty. I believe they will rightfully choose Gary Johnson. I believe that Gary Johnson will then easily acquire more votes then any Libertarian candidate to date. Let’s get it done.
