Isn’t it Ironic that we celebrate our ‘freedom’ with ‘illegal things’?

So it’s the 4th of July at about 10:30 pm.  I  just got back from hanging out over a buddy’s house, lighting “illegal” fireworks when this title popped into my head.  I guess it’s kinda fitting that a government would make something as symbolic as fireworks are to freedom illegal.  After all government is the antithesis of freedom.  Government making fireworks illegal seems to kinda just send the message that you’re not really free very much at all.

I saw a friend of mine post earlier “Happy Stockholm Syndrome Day!”.  I snickered when I read it.  I think the true beauty of this night for me is that in so many places all over the country, people are committing simultaneous acts of civil disobedience.   I have always believed that America deep down has a rebellious heart.  It’s that rebellious heart that I like to think about on the 4th. The idea that our nation was born out of rebellion. When you look up into the sky to watch those illegal fireworks in urban cities, suburbs & rural areas nationwide, you’re watching the rebellion in the sky.

Stay gold, America.
