How the Super Bowl Promotes Empire, War & Taxpayer Theft


Abby Martin explains how the Super Bowl promotes ideas of militarism and empire.

“The heroes of war and the heros of sport are indistinguishable in militarized societies. War is sold to a gullible public as a noble game. Few have the athletic prowess to play professional sports, but almost any young man or woman can go to a recruiter and sign up to be a military hero.” – Chris Hedges

The NFL raked in 10.5 billion dollars last year and is somehow still registered as a “non-profit corporation”. Whether or not you’re a fan you have no choice as to whether or not your hard earned then extorted tax dollars go to subsidize the NFL’s billions of dollars of private profit.
