Last week, during the holiday travel weekend, travelers waited in exceptionally long TSA checkpoint lines. At one Chicago airport, the line for security actually stretched for over a mile.

The line reportedly wrapped around the entire building, and even spread out into the parking garage, so some travelers were in line before they even got out of their cars.
“This happens sometimes, there was a period of time earlier this morning, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., that lines were long because that is when most people are traveling for the holiday period,” Chicago Aviation Department spokeswoman Karen Pride said.
The large crowds certainly contributed to the back-up, but the tedious TSA security checks are likely to blame for such outrageous lines and waiting conditions.
