US Senator Warns Fast Tracked Bill Will Give President Power to Declare War With Absolutely No Limitations

Senator Christopher Murphy spoke out against Mitch McConnell‘s fast tracked resolution (AUMF) written by Senator Lindsey Graham that will award the president of the United States the ability to declare international martial law removing congress from the equation. Graham warned prior that he was writing legislation to deal with ISIS and if passed would complete a full cycle of theHegelian Dialectic.

In Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution it details only Congress has the power to declare war, Graham’s AUMF erases the War Powers Resolution set forth in 1973 during the Vietnam War.

Murphy warned the federal government about the initiative outlining that it “apparently purports to give the president legal authority to conduct military operations against ISIS,”

The new edition of the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) was fast tracked using “Rule 14” which bypasses the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Sen. Murphy took the floor briefly to bring attention to the dictator-like powers instilled in the resolution,

“I thought it was important to come on the floor and explain why, very briefly to my colleagues, excuse me to explain what this resolution really is. This resolution is a total rewrite of the war powers clause of the United States constitution, be clear about that. It is essentially a declaration of international martial law. A sweeping transfer of military power to the president that will allow him or her to send US troops almost anywhere in the world for almost any reason with absolutely no limitations.”
